In my 20s, I was blind to change. Oh, sure, I’d find a new apartment, a new pair of shorts, replace one regularly visited restaurant with another. But that was about it.
Fast forward to age 40, and change is life. In just three years, I found and married the woman of my dreams, had a child with that woman, and together with her, built a home for that wonderful little creation to grow up in.
I somehow also managed to find my calling during those three years. Beer has become the center of our lives, both socially and professionally. It brings us to places like this one: Mobtown Brewing Company, in my hometown of Baltimore. On this particular day, the conversations revolve around everything from Kenya to IPA, and I take a moment to reflect on how much has shifted in such a short amount of time. Unlike those heady days of my 20s, I’m here with my family, for starters. It’s us against the world.

By themselves, they're just small moments in and around beer. Together, they're the culture we love.
