There are people in every industry who have passion, knowledge, and skill in measures far greater than most can ever imagine. Mick Jontef is one of those. He’s now a brewing consultant, but spent the previous 40 years with Carlton United Breweries, mostly as a New Product Developer, where he came up with new beers for Australia’s largest brewer.
Here, he’s telling us all about one of the world’s favorite hops, Galaxy. He’s worked closely with Australian hop breeders and played a big part in the development of the sought-after variety. He tells us it’s one of the few that smell the same from bine to beer. He even goes so far as to pull a hop cone apart and explain why from start to finish. What a legend.
