Jesse Ferguson is the co-founder and head brewer at Brooklyn's Interboro Spirits & Ales. A veteran of NYC’s underground hip-hop scene, he opened Interboro some six months ago after cutting his teeth at places like Carton and Other Half.
But before he was a brewer, he was a DJ and part of influential record label Definitive Jux, founded by one Jaime Meline, who’s better known as the rapper El-P, and best known these days as half of the world-dominating rap duo Run the Jewels. El-P and his partner, Killer Mike, are three albums in to what's already a wall-puncher of a catalog.
So when the idea came up to have some bespoke beer for RTJ's run of New York City shows, Interboro was a natural choice. Stay G-O-L-D, a 6% IPA, carries its punchy hop flavor front and center. It's cloudy and soft, with a healthy dose of up-front bitterness. The beer was specially created for the shows, but its can release was also timed nicely to New York City’s Beer Week, which is going on right now.
