I'm a beer geek. Having worked in the industry for years now, I travel a lot, too—which means I've been to a lot of places that were built for modern-day beer geeking.
Anchor Brewing is not one of those places. It's old-school in every sense of the phrase. From the copper kettles, to the museum inside the building on Potrero Hill, to the no-frills beer offerings like Anchor Steam, Liberty Ale, and Anchor Porter. It's a lovely romp through U.S. beer history.
But then you walk into the cellar and your breath is taken away. After tasting all those beers, it's exactly what you hoped it would be. Cozy, welcoming, classic. Maybe Anchor is built for today's beer geek after all.
