My new colleague Katie and I were propping up the bar at Cellarmaker, showing support for one of San Francisco's most excellent breweries, when we heard the Women's March was about to start just a few blocks away.
We headed out to find the most welcoming, safe, and diverse crowd I've ever been in, making its way down Market Street. Homemade placards, a sense of strong, loving determination, and catchy chants filling the air. "You're orange, you're gross, you lost the popular vote!" still rings jubilantly in my ears.
Even as a visitor from the UK, the feeling of kinship, inclusiveness, and collective purpose was unreal. It gives me hope for the future.
