Good Beer Hunting

We’re voracious consumers of culture. And each week, a member of our team shares the words, images, and beers that inspired them.

READ.// “Concentrated on a 232-square-mile subarctic plateau in Cairngorms National Park, the largest in Britain, the multi-landowner enterprise has embarked on a 200-year plan to restore rivers and reseed ancient Caledonian pine forest.” Harnessing Nature’s propensity for reclaiming its spaces, these naturalists have been able to channel greenery down a glen like a flood. This isn’t the design of a new nature park—it’s terraforming, and one step towards making Scotland the first “rewilded” country.

LOOK.// In “Limitless” on National Geographic, a middle-aged father of three is having a midlife crisis, worried about his mortality and trying to develop strategies for handling work stress and feelings of self-doubt by taking on extreme challenges. How this random guy named—checks notes—Chris Hemsworth managed to spin his journey into a TV show is beyond me. But the guy has charm, and I’d say a chance.

DRINK.// Dogfish Head Craft Brewery 60 Minute IPA
I revisited this old flame this week. For the famously creative and experimental brewer, this beer is perhaps off-brand more than “off-center.” If you’ve ever bumper bowled or played best-ball down a fairway, you’re familiar with this beer’s value: It’s a can’t-miss. Perhaps the most consistently enjoyable IPA ever made.
